Juvenile Record Sealing Definitions

Application/Orders Received or Processed

There are two ways applications/orders for record seals can be received (both of which come from the court): those that are automatically sealed by statue and those that are sealed due to application/review/order by the court. The Record Seal Unit, receives applications/orders from the court and investigate/provide a recommendation to the court (on certain types of record seals). The court then makes a ruling and records are sealed as directed by the court.

Sealed

Records that are automatically sealed by statue or by court order.

Rejected

Applications that are either denied sealing for not meeting the minimum eligibility requirements or by the courts.
