On May 18, 2017, the Sacramento County Probation Department held its 16th Adult Day Reporting Center (ADRC) Graduation ceremony. The event was held at the George Sim Community Center where 73 clients were recognized for their successful completion of the ADRC program. Additionally, three of the graduating clients have also acquired their GEDs through the program.

The ADRC program, which operates out of three locations throughout Sacramento County, is part of Probation's Adult Community Corrections Division. Participants who are 18 years of age and older and have been assessed as having a high-risk to reoffend receive intensive on-site curriculum.

The program lasts between 9 and 12 months depending on a client's needs and includes cognitive-behavioral treatment classes; referrals to community-based organizations; job skill assessments; vocational training; group, individual or family counseling; educational services including assessment, GED preparation and testing; emergency housing, family support services, and participation in work crews to provide restitution to victims.

Clients who successfully completed the program were invited to share this accomplishment with their families and friends at the graduation ceremony.

"We congratulate the ADRC graduates on their achievements. The recognition they received today was well earned – it takes desire and perseverance to truly adopt a positive lifestyle," said Assistant Chief Marlon Yarber.

In addition to recognizing the graduates for their success, Chief Deputy Michael Bays, who has headed the program since it began in 2011, was recognized at the event for his contributions to the overall success of the program. Chief Deputy Bays will be retiring later this year after nearly 30 years of service to the County of Sacramento.

"Chief Deputy Bays has managed the ADRC program since its inception, and the program's successful operation and positive outcomes are a direct reflection of his passion and commitment to the department's mission and vision. He is leaving behind a legacy of excellence," said Chief Probation Officer Lee Seale.

A total of 853 clients have graduated from the program since its inception.
