Supervising Probation Officer Ken Silva received the 2016 CPOC Award of Excellence, a single award presented to a probation employee in California who has made a significant contribution statewide or a far reaching impact on probation from the Chief Probation Officers of California (CPOC). The award ceremony was held in San Diego, California, on December 8, 2016.

Nominations for the award are submitted by or on behalf of Chief Probation Officers from departments throughout the state. Only one award is presented each year, making the selection an even greater honor.

Officer Silva was recognized for his work within the department's Impact Services Team unit, which supervises three unique populations: mentally ill youth, commercially sexually exploited children, and W&I 300 crossover youth. His continued education on these unique populations and his participation on the Human Trafficking Taskforce, Juvenile Justice Diversion and Treatment Program (JJDTP), and CPS/Probation Management Team have helped eliminate barriers to services and built strong working relationships.

"Our staff are doing incredible things, and it's a privilege to lead these amazing men and women who are making real, palpable contributions to the field of probation," said Chief Seale.
